To their great surprise, these teams of American professionals discovered a state-of-the-art studio in an old church in the Eastern Townships countryside and a team of experienced arrangers, musicians and technicians. All established in a close-knit community of artists.

Pilou in creation.
This Hollywood project grew out of the friendship between Pierre-Philippe Côté (aka Pilou) and 27-year-old American director, producer and actress Quinn Shephard. As an actress, she is best known for her role in the television series Hostages. When the musician had to replace Charlotte Cardin on stage at the Festival d’été de Québec, the American director spotted him hearing his music in the distance. She came to him after the concert and explained that she was looking for music for her film Blame, which she produced herself. It was in 2017.
Three weeks later he made the music for his film in New York. Over time, he became both the director’s friend and favorite composer after signing with Searchlight Pictures, “one of Hollywood’s hottest studios for auteur films.”
“I work with European groups, with hip-hop producers in LA, but people in Quebec don’t know that,” continues the 37-year-old producer, who has also worked on Netflix and Discovery series. At the beginning of the year I’m going back to LA to further develop my career there. My goal is to strengthen ties between Hollywood and Quebec. We founded Le BEAM creative center with this vision: to organize a large-scale film industry in Quebec by building infrastructure, educating the workforce and developing the industry here.
“They think we’re cruel, crazy, and brilliant,” adds the man who worked in the post-production of Ariane Louis-Seize’s first film, Vampire humaniste seeks Consenting Suicidal, and Sherbrooke director Anh Minh’s film Des hommes, la nuit Truong Works, which is scheduled for release in March 2023.
