Austria: 10 people buried by an avalanche, 8 rescued ANSA news agency

Eight people were rescued by rescue workers after an avalanche buried them at the Lech Zurz ski resort in western Vorarlberg, Austria. This is reported by the Austrian Kronen Zeitung on its website. The search for two more people continues. Six of the rescued are unharmed and two slightly injured.

The avalanche happened around 3 p.m. at 2,700 meters in the Lech Zurz ski area. Authorities had warned of a high avalanche danger in the area over the weekend. About two hundred people are involved in the search for the missing with the help of helicopters and dogs. Avalanches have killed an average of around 20 people a year in Austria in recent years.
