Boxer Gervonta Davis was arrested Tuesday in Parkland, Fla., and jailed on one charge of domestic violence with assault, according to records from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Davis remains in custody at Broward County’s main prison office in Fort Lauderdale and is scheduled to appear for a court hearing Wednesday at 8 a.m. ET, according to the prison. No binding has been set.
Details of Davis’ arrest and the allegations against him were not known early Wednesday morning.
Davis, 28, from Baltimore, is scheduled to headline a PBC on Showtime PPV event against Hector Luis Garcia on January 7 in Washington, DC. The fight is scheduled to kick off a superfight on April 25 in Las Vegas against Ryan Garcia. Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) is a former 130-pound defending champion.
According to court documents, Davis is scheduled to appear in Baltimore Circuit Court on February 16 for his alleged involvement in an unrelated hit-and-run incident in November 2020. Davis is accused of fleeing the scene of the accident, which involved four people, including a pregnant woman. He faces 14 charges including failing to return immediately and remaining at the scene of the accident causing bodily harm. He is also threatened with a civil lawsuit.
Additionally, Davis faced two misdemeanor battery charges for an incident in February 2020 in which he “was observed hitting his former girlfriend,” according to Coral Gables, Fla., police. That case was dropped on December 13, according to court records.
