After noting that this disease is transmitted through close, sustained, skin-to-skin physical contact, Ramírez specified that the main route of transmission at the moment is physical contact, which occurs during sexual intercourse.

Among other transmission routes, he mentioned respiratory secretions in personal conversations and contact with contaminated materials from a sick person.

The virus can also be transmitted to the fetus or newborn through birth or early physical contact, he said.

It has been shown that the most common symptom associated with mpox are skin lesions resembling pimples or blisters, they can be painful or itchy, they appear anywhere on the body but more commonly in the genital, perianal, facial, hand and and foot regions. .

He also pointed out that fever, chills, swollen glands, fatigue, muscle, back and headache pains, and breathing problems such as a sore throat, stuffy nose or cough can occur.
