Nicaragua with more than 800 traffic accidents in one week

Presenting the report on the road emergency plan implemented in this Central American nation by the end of the year, Reyes added that 23 people were reported dead while 67 were injured in the specified time period.

The agency explained that the main causes of the accidents are the drunken state of drivers, speeding, intrusion into the lane, failure to keep the distance between vehicles, carelessness of pedestrians and improper turning.

Another police report on the year-end road safety plan released Monday indicates that 200 road accidents have occurred here in just two days (between December 31 and January 1).

Nicaragua launched a road education booklet in October to raise road users’ awareness of protecting human life and promoting cultural changes to prevent road accidents.
