The Armada loses again

In a clash between the two worst teams in the Western Conference at the Sports Rousseau Center of Excellence on Tuesday, the Val-d’Or Foreurs had the last laugh, beating the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 4-2.

Nathan Baril scored the winner in the second half of the third period before teammate Charles-Antoine Beauregard sealed the game moments later. Alexandre Guy and Frédéric Potvin also hit the mark.

The Abitibi team is thus taking revenge for last Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat against the same club on their own soil. She also ends an awkward four-game losing streak when she returns home to host the Acadie-Bathurst Titans on Friday.

The Armada will await the visit of the Shawinigan Cataractes on Thursday and try to avoid a third straight loss.

The Oceanic wins again

For their part, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens lost their sixth consecutive game, this time 6-1 against the Océanic in Rimouski.

The local hero fired no fewer than 41 shots at Charles-Antoine Lavallée. Six different scorers beat him, namely Charles Côté, Luka Verreault, Julien Béland, Jacob Mathieu, Alexander Gaudio and Jan Sprynar.

With at least one point in their last 10 games (9-0-1), the Océanic are closing in on East-leading Quebec Remparts. However, he is still 13 points behind.

The surprised tigers

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies brought down the leaders in the west as they defeated the Tigres 4-2 in Victoriaville.

Tristan Allard scored the winning goal in the third period. The Tigers had previously responded to the Huskies’ first two goals in quick succession.

Thomas Couture was excellent in the win, stopping 29 of 31 pucks thrown at him.

The Huskies are enjoying themselves having remained undefeated in their last seven games in regulation. That puts them within five points of the Tigers.
