“It’s code for adults who still watch cartoons”
“Jinkies!” The new series of the universe of Scooby Doo promises investigators a makeover secret inc Produced and Written by Mindy Kaling, Velma arrives this thursday (12). HBO Max and to prepare the public for the arrival of the new production, the streaming shared a new trailer that revealed more about the animation’s plot.
With a grownup tone that will bring dark creatures and gruesome deaths, Velma follows the iconic and underrated genius of the ScoobyDoo gang.

In this new version we will have something more of Velma’s past, daphne, fred and sausage at the college for crystal baysolved the team’s first mysteries and, as the trailer says, the “excruciating” school experience.
We’ll be there alongside Mindy Kalling, who stars, produces and writes the series Sam Richardson like shaggy, Constance Wu in the role of Daphne, Glen Howerton as Fred, alongside other wellknown names in the cast such as Debby Ryan, Shay Mitchell, jane lynch and Ming Na Wen. Check it out below:
What some in the cast might have missed was the presence of ScoobyDoo, Mystery Inc.’s stalwart companion. His absence was previously explained by Charlie GrandyScreenwriter, who cowrote the animated series with Mindy, during a panel at the New York Comic Con (about insider).
According to Grandy, the ScoobyDoo character is very strongly associated with children. To move away from that image and fully embrace the adult tone, the production decided to put the character aside and focus entirely on Velma and her time at school.
With a dark and gory tone, Velma arrives on HBO Max this Thursday. January 12.
