EPOS H6PRO review: the uncompromising wired gaming headset – Frandroid

The Epos H6PRO gaming headset is a high-end wired model for the most demanding gamers. This model is available in an open and a second closed version, which we tested for several weeks.

The H6PRO is absolutely plug & play and is content with a jack connection. The design is particularly striking and imposing, but the emphasis seems to have been placed on comfort and assembly quality. requires a brand image, this model is offered at a very high price of 180 euros.

Epic H6 ProDesign and Ergonomics

The Epos H6PRO is more discreet than the brand’s previous models. However, it maintains an assertive design without overdoing it with gaming elements. Thus, this new model dispenses with integrated RGB lighting and remains particularly sober in this midnight blue finish.

The metal headband is generously foamed and completely covered with black synthetic leather. This bow is said to have a very classic design with a sliding system that needs to be graduated to be able to maintain the right attitude over time. The amplitude offered by this adjustment system also allows the H6PRO to be “compatible” with the largest skulls.

While it doesn’t allow the earcups to flip 90°, the H6PRO still offers slight movement on that axis to smooth out the bells around the ears. This dual articulation also allows for generous horizontal axis travel to maximize comfort and sound reproduction.

The very qualitative aspect of the helmet continues at the level of the ear cups. The latter have a generous shape memory foam covered with an imitation leather cover. The part that touches the skin, on the other hand, has a layer of suede-like fabric, which improves the wearing comfort a bit.

When it comes to comfort, however, the H6PRO is not without flaws. If its generous headband and articulations allow a good adaptation to the given morphology, the atria are not so convincing. These put a little too much pressure around the ears, which can therefore be annoying during long usage sessions.

Like any good self-respecting gaming headset, the Epos H6PRO features a boom microphone. The latter has the particularity of being removable thanks to an ingenious magnet system. The brand also offers two plastic covers to fill the gap left on the earcup when the microphone is removed. The latter can also be raised along the arc, causing the capture to be cut off.

Despite being analog only, the H6PRO offers a volume control integrated on the surface of the right earcup. This affects the output volume of the headphones without affecting the volume of the system. The connection to the computer is guaranteed by a braided jack cable with a generous length. A second cable with a combined jack plug is also included.

Epic H6 ProPerformance

Epos leaves little room for doubt as to its experience in sound reproduction. The H6PRO is an excellent student and delivers a clear sound that sounds extra true in all situations. This closed version offers a slight touch of extra bass, very classic for a gaming headset.

This slight emphasis on low frequencies is useful in shooting games, where explosions and other muffled sounds logically have greater strength. However, the good accuracy of the headphones allows for absolutely comfortable listening to music. The rest of the spectrum doesn’t suffer from any major flaws and the H6PRO delivers a very well defined sound.

We also benefit from good stereophony, coupled with a soundstage wide enough to encourage immersion in titles where sound environment is important. In short, the sound reproduction of the Epos H6PRO is very convincing!

As for soundproofing, it is quite correct in this closed model. Logically, turning to the open model, you need to take into account that this isolation is almost non-existent, both for you and for the people around you.

The microphone with which the helmet is equipped also delivers interesting performance. It’s better than most of its competitors when it comes to capturing speech with relative clarity. The noise cancellation isn’t the best on the market and the headset also suffers from the lack of dedicated software to configure it.
