A 17-year-old teenager dies because he disobeys on a scooter

A 17-year-old teenager died in hospital on Saturday morning following a scooter accident that occurred on Friday evening in Chelles (Seine-et-Marne) after the driver of the two-wheeler refused to move. Arrested on orders of the police, said the prosecutor of Meaux.

The driver of the scooter, also 17, was still in mortal danger in hospital on Saturday evening after the accident ended the chase that began two kilometers upriver in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis).

According to the Meaux public prosecutor's office, at around 11 p.m. on Friday, a team from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) of Neuilly-sur-Marne tried to control this two-wheeler that had just gone through a red light.

Arriving in the city of Chelles, the driver slipped on the road and the scooter “came under a vehicle stopped at the traffic lights,” explains prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier in his press release.

The two young people were then trapped under the car, “one of the two – presumably the passenger – lost his helmet due to the force of the impact,” the judge added.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, established in particular through the use of video surveillance, “there does not appear to have been any contact between the scooter and the BAC vehicle,” says the press release.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the Meaux public prosecutor's office has opened two investigations. The first, for non-compliance, was entrusted to the Chelles-Villeparisis police station. The second case, involving homicide and involuntary injuries, is being carried out by the Paris delegation of the Inspectorate General of the National Police (IGPN), the “police of the police”.
