According to Mohamed Conte, a close friend, the deceased, who was from Guinea, was a talented artist who made his living as an acrobat and dancer. Among other things, he would have participated in the shows Cavalia and Odysseo.
He emigrated to Canada in 2013 to, as he says, make a “new life” and support his family on the African continent.
After an injury a few years ago, he moved to Saguenay where he found a new job. However, he considered restarting his career in show business.
A big emptiness
His departure leaves a big gap, says his friend, who is also from Guinea and immigrated to the country at the same time.
“He was a really nice guy. […], bright. He made people smile, that was his forte. […] He is someone who has worked with many people and everyone loved him.
Expressions of sympathy poured out on social media.
“Everyone is in shock because they are a good person. He never hurt anyone. He is a person who laughs all the time. You see, he was energetic, then suddenly, unfortunately, he lost his life,” said Elvia Garcia, who knew Mr Soumah through her husband, who also works in the circus field.
A crowdfunding campaign was launched on the GoFundMe platform to send Moustapha Soumah’s body to his family and offer him a funeral.

“We want to pay tribute to Moustapha by allowing him to return to his homeland and allowing him to rest with his family. “Moustapha’s entire family lives in Guinea and faces real budgetary constraints in the face of such repatriation,” we read on the campaign page.
“If you’ve been with Moustapha over the past few years, you know he had plans in his head and dreams in his heart. It is with difficulty and sadness that we try to imagine that it all ended so suddenly,” he added.
