Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante appears unhappy with Treasury Secretary Eric Girard’s budget unveiling.

She launched a series of posts on her Twitter account on Tuesday to close the day, commenting on certain Girard budget issues.
“Unfortunately, the Quebec government’s budget does not meet the demands of the metropolis and its region,” she said in a publication.
The 2023-2024 budget offers partial budgetary answers to problems that remain unresolved.

She regrets the lack of investment to counteract the real estate crisis.
By ignoring the housing crisis, the government is further jeopardizing the metropolis’ affordability and the wallets of thousands of families.

She also believes that investments in transport should soon be reviewed for public transport.
The City of Montreal and the STM will be attending with interest next week’s consultations with Minister Geneviève Guilbault.
