Solidarity, compassion and kindness have been seriously undermined in recent years. The Internet is full of websites full of examples of hatred and indifference. However, some stories still have the ability to touch hearts. This is the case of Olivier Martin and his partner Mélanie Langlais.
This couple, known for their volunteer involvement in local culture, is going through more difficult times. Olivier, who has been battling cancer since 2016, is weakened by the disease. His body no longer responds to the treatment. Inability to work, financial stress is unnecessary pressure.
The energy required to fight the disease must not be wasted. For this reason, a friend of the couple, Anacha Rousseau, took the initiative Fundraising on the GoFundMe platform. The overwhelming reaction here is a huge wave of love for Olivier and Mélanie.
“We want to enable Olivier and his partner Mélanie Langlais to fully enjoy family time with their son without having to deal with financial stress on top of the illness,” the fundraiser organizer wrote.
The goal of $20,000 was reached in less than a week. The amount raised today exceeds $33,000.
“It is difficult to express the great gratitude we feel when confronted with such displays of generosity. Even if money doesn’t cure anything here, it still significantly alleviates our lives, our everyday lives, our pain. Simply saying “thank you” seems trivial to us, but that’s all we have; So from the bottom of my heart: thank you,” emphasized Olivier Martin.
Last spring, the singer-songwriter from Louperi released the music album “Coup de barre”.. During the meeting with Info Dimanche, the artist insisted not to focus on his health. Olivier wanted to focus on the present moment, nestled between his lover Mélanie and his son Thomélé, his music like a comforting blanket.
The music in the Martin Langlais House scents the air, just as the blooming lilacs herald the arrival of spring. If this campaign doesn’t extend the seasons, it will at least allow them to live in the present.
