A home shot through in Saint-Léonard

An apartment building in the Saint-Léonard neighborhood of Montreal was hit by gunfire on Monday evening.

The Montreal Police Department was called at around 10:15 p.m. regarding gunshots that were heard outside an apartment building on Albanel Street, near Thierry Street.

When police arrived at the scene, they found shell casings on the floor and a bullet hole in a window of the apartment building.

Residents of the residence affected by the shooting were taken away by police, SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Chèvrefils said, adding that no one was injured.

According to initial information, suspects shot the building on foot and then fled before the police arrived.

The crime scene was protected by a security perimeter pending the arrival of investigators and forensic identification technicians to determine the circumstances of this shooting.

Dog squads were also called to the scene to help track down the suspect while the investigation continues.
