A kangaroo enjoys a few hours of freedom –

For the second time in a month, an opportunistic and freedom-loving Ontario kangaroo saw the right opportunity to escape his masters, this time by escaping a zoo in Morpeth on the shores of Lake Erie.

Ontario Provincial Police said Wednesday they had obtained video showing the fugitive enjoying a brief break on the side of a rural road while on the run.

“Good news for the kangaroo and the public. Police confirmed the animal was caught yesterday [dans la région de] Chatham-Kent,” the police subsequently clarified on their social networks.

According to local media, the marsupial escaped from the Greenview Aviaries and quickly traveled a few miles between itself and its home before being captured by Chatham-Kent area police officers a few hours later.

An Amazon delivery person was surprised to come across the kangaroo on her way, an event she wanted to capture through photos.

“I was driving the car and thought I saw a deer but then I realized deer don't have arms lol,” Alexis Prochnicki commented on his Facebook page.

“There was already a young veterinarian there. She called the local zoo. A police officer arrived shortly after,” she added in an interview with CTV News, specifying that the kangaroo appeared calm.

This is the second time in just over a month that a kangaroo escape has occurred in Ontario. On December 1 last year, a marsupial en route to Quebec had to abandon its protectors during a stopover in Oshawa. He was finally found in good health three days later.
