A man would have abandoned a luxurious property due to erosion – Le Journal de Montréal

A Brit who won a home worth more than $5 million in the raffle has abandoned the property for nearly two years amid fears it could collapse due to riverbank erosion.

In October 2021, however, Glen Elmy would have left the residence three days after the draw without ever returning, The Sun reported.

The house was won after the “Omaze” competition, a children’s charity fund. The house then presented “a style like the James Bond films,” according to the winner of the raffle. In particular, it offered spectacular panoramic sea views, six bathrooms and a swimming pool.

However, the property would have gaps.

“As of October 2021, I have never seen anyone go in or out,” said a neighbor who preferred to remain anonymous. There is a lot of speculation that it cannot be insured due to the proximity to the sea and the cliff.”

“There is an erosion problem all along the coast,” he added. There are signs around the beach warning of falling stones.”

Mr Elmy would have returned the keys to the property before demanding a sum of money equal to the value of the premises.

Glen Elmy was the fourth person to win an “Omaze” house in the UK.
