This Tuesday afternoon, the Peruvian justice system imposed a 35-year prison sentence on the Peruvian citizen Juan Villafuerte Pinto for the femicide of the Mexican Blanca Arellano Gutiérrez, a sexist crime committed in November in the city of Huacho, near Lima. of 2022. “The defendant delivered several blows to the victim, causing intentional harm to the victim.” has explained the judge in charge of the case.

The femicide occurred on the night of November 6, 2022, even though the couple had met a year earlier. According to the story read by the judge, a relative of Arellano ran a video game company where Villafuerte and the Mexican woman were registered. They met through virtual games and a month later they decided to start an always virtual relationship through Facebook messages. At some point, the couple decided it was time to get to know each other, so Arellano sold his car, a bicycle and designer clothes to finance his trip to Peru.

The family said goodbye to Blanca Arellano at the Mexico City airport and she excitedly arrived in Lima on July 28th. Together with Villafuerte they made a few trips through Peru and then settled in a room in Huacho, about three hours from the capital. Everything went normally until the Peruvian woman met another woman a few months later and began a new love affair. The situation between Arellano and Villafuente deteriorated to the point that according to the story read by the judgeThe man was looking for a way to get rid of the Mexican.

On the afternoon of November 6, Villafuente moved from Lima to Huacho. On the way, he disconnected the GPS from his phone and, according to authorities, committed the crime that night: He brutally beat, murdered, beheaded and dismembered Arellano.

The crime shocked Peruvians when three days later some fishermen from the port of Huacho found the faceless head. Hours later, an arm and the next day some farmers found the woman’s upper body in an irrigation field. He had no organs. It was Arellano’s niece who filed a missing person’s report days later after losing contact with her aunt. Villafuerte told him that Blanca had gotten bored and returned to Mexico. Authorities were able to identify Blanca’s body parts thanks to a silver ring still attached to one of the severed fingers. The case was so outrageous that the Peruvian press said at the time that it was the worst femicide ever recorded in the Andean country.

Authorities entered Villafuertes’ room on November 15 and, after several hours of expert examination, found traces of blood in the bathroom and on the mattress. There were also cleaning supplies and women’s clothing, as well as suitcases filled with Mexican stamps. The man was arrested and the long trial for femicide against Mexican citizen Blanca Arellano began. After hearing the judge’s verdict this Tuesday, the judiciary must forward the decision to the Peruvian prison authorities.
