Farewell to Wayne Mark Doyle who, together with Adam Bowen and Gino Ventriglia, in collaboration with Michele Zatta, had created the Rai 3 soap Un posto al sole, the longest-running in our country, which will be 26 years old after its first broadcast. The causes of death have not been released, but there is talk of an illness he has been suffering from for some time.
Doyle had also worked as a producer on the original series Neighbors, the Australian format that made Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie and Natalie Imbruglia famous, which never aired in Italy but was born around Un posto al sole.
It was he, together with a team of Italian authors, to start filming the first soap opera entirely produced in Italy, manufactured by the Rai TV production center in Naples. Thanks to him we were able to meet the tenants of the Palazzo Palladini, the set of the series, who have been with us every day for almost three decades.
From the Australian suburbs to the streets of Naples, the context of the city should be told through the everyday life of different families. The reference is precisely to the long suicide note Doyle wrote to his staff a few days before his death: “Laugh often and a lotwin the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, earn the approval of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, leave the world a little betterwhether with a healthy child, a small garden or a redeemed social status, in the knowledge that a human being has breathed better because one has lived, that should have been successful.
