The Israel Defense Forces spokesman for the Arab media, Avichay Adraeesaid the army would allow the movement of Palestinians migrating to the south of the Gaza Strip for another six hours, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time (from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., Brazilian time).
This is what the statement published on the speaker’s social media said Gaza residents must migrate south via two main routes: the Salah AlDin and AlBahr highways.
Avichay Adraee states that at the agreed time, the army will “allow movement on the designated highways without harm” and that the Palestinians should use the deadline to move to the southern Gaza region “for their own security.”
“If you care about yourself and your loved ones, please go south as instructed,” the statement said.
The spokesman also emphasizes that “Hamas leaders have been taking care of themselves and protecting themselves from attacks in the region,” indicating that civilians must prioritize their own wellbeing.
However, after a series of criticism and appeals from international organizations and authorities, Israel granted an additional six hours so that a hospital run by the NGO Doctors Without Borders could be safely evacuated. The extension ended at midnight.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 324 people were killed and more than a thousand injured in Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
In a video shared exclusively with GloboNews by Brazilian citizen Ahmed Alajrami, dozens of bodies, most of them children, can be seen lying in the street and on trucks.
