While Google has just launched its new mid-range smartphone with the Google Pixel 7a, the manufacturer seems to have the next premium models in the starting blocks with the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro.

In fact, thanks to the leaker Kuba Wojciechowski, the site 91Mobiles was able to get their hands on a video on the first steps with the future Google Pixel 8 Pro. Enough to discover the design but also some of its technical characteristics on a smartphone already four months before the expected presentation.

At first glance, the Pixel 8 Pro looks identical to the Pixel 7 Pro launched late last year in many ways. Particularly noteworthy is the horizontal aluminum bar on the back, which allows the inclusion of a module with three cameras. Still, below the flash we can see what 91Mobiles says would be a temperature sensor. This sensor would thus make it possible to measure a person’s temperature simply by bringing it as close as possible to the skull without touching it, and by rotating the smartphone around the head. A system that is very close to the technology currently used in non-contact thermometers.

Data that stays private

also states that this sensor can also be used to measure the temperature of other objects and that the data is not shared in the cloud but remains private. However, you can expect them to integrate with Google’s various fitness and health apps, be it Google Fit or Fitbit.

If Google sticks to its usual schedule, we can expect an official presentation of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro sometime in the fall. As a reminder, the company unveiled its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on October 6, 2022.
