Radio-Canada and ADISQ announced Tuesday that the 29-year-old comedian will headline the 46th gala next fall.

“As a teenager, I played guitar and sang in a group that covered the successes of Les Trois Accords, and then I never missed the ADISQ gala hosted by my idol Louis-José Houde. So is it an honor to take over the leadership of ADISQ? Yes, yes, normal,” Roy-Desmarais joked in a press release.

Julie Gariépy, executive producer and director of the ADISQ Galas, says the gala team felt they had found “a rare gem” in Roy-Desmarais, whom she describes as a “great connoisseur of Quebec music.”

Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais has become known in recent years for his participation in Bye Bye editions. It was he who opened the legendary show with a humorous song. He is also one of the “fantasists” on Véronique Cloutier's radio show on Rouge.

His first solo show, “Jokes Chapeau Maman Magie Piano”, won the Félix as Comedy Show of the Year in 2022 – in particular against “A Thousand Bad Choices” by Louis-José Houde.

The very popular Louis-José Houde was master of ceremonies at ADISQ for 18 years, always receiving rave reviews for his entertainment, which was characterized by a great knowledge of Quebec music.

Roy-Desmarais is clearly aware that he is wearing big shoes. In a promotional video released on Tuesday, he anticipates all the questions that journalists will ask him, and they all concern his predecessor.

“It's an honor, but I'd rather not compare myself and concentrate on what I have to do,” he replied to a fictional question from a journalist.

“To be honest, it's not that bad, I tell myself that the evening is definitely not about me, but about our music. »
