Light was born in Puerto Rico in 1977. It was the first boy band formed in Spanish, so it wasn’t long before it became a huge hit. As the group was to be “refreshed” from time to time so that the members would remain children, a new generation with a small one emerged in the 1980s Rick Martin.
In total, four generations were part of the band from 1977 to 1997. In a period of 30 years the band had a total of 33 members. After this long phase and many years without coming to light, the group agrees to return with new members and new surprises.
In 2022, news became official that Mario López was looking for new members Light. Since it is a very important comeback and a band has always been successful, auditions began in September of the same year. First they were made in digital format, where they could see the talent of many children.
After several months of conducting an intense search, they have confirmed who will be the people who will form the most famous Spanish boy band of all time. Among the members we find Nicolás Calero, a 10-year-old boy of Puerto Rican-Russian origin.
Also present are 13-year-old Venezuelan Gabriel Rossell, 15-year-old Venezuelan Alejandro Querales, 14-year-old Andrés Emilio and 12-year-old Erza Gilmore. It should be noted that these last two boys are Puerto Rican. They have all been chosen to breathe life into this new stage and generation of the music band.
To make the most of this release, they also released their first single. It’s a song called Mi Amore that has been interpreted in both Spanish and English. This new song features various Afro-Cuban arrangements. In addition, it features a mix of pop and rap that groups like BTS have popularized in recent years.
Said song also has its own video clip, in which not only the new guy plays the leading role Light but also by the Youtuber Ana Emilia. In the filming, we can see the band trying to win over this 15 year old girl while they are at a gala party.
This is what the new members of Menudo look like.
According to official information, the new members are dancers, actors and songwriters in addition to singers. In a recent statement, Mario López shared the complicated experience of finding these teenagers and making the band as perfect as it was years ago.
“Deciding who the five members would be was more difficult than we thought because there was so much talent to choose from. The guys we chose bonded immediately and the music they created exceeded all of our expectations. I think we have some massive hits and I’m more excited than ever to introduce these young guys to the world.”
