The selfproclaimed youth “King of Cryptocurrency” has been kidnapped and held captive for three days, according to a recent report. During this time, he was tortured by the assailants. The case happened in Canada, but victims also spread across the United States.

Aiden Pleterski, 23, is accused of defrauding multiple investors. He is in bankruptcy proceedings while authorities in North America seek to recover the $29 million (about R$152 million).

The young man would have spent much of the stolen sum to live a life of luxury that included a private jet, fleet of cars and vacations. Only $1.6 million of the siphoned amount was refunded.

In a government report, Pleterski’s father said he received a call during the night demanding R$11 million to save his son. The “king of cryptocurrencies” had been kidnapped and held hostage under torture for three days.

Pleterski victims’ attorney Norman Groot reports that the damage could be double what was originally thought. For him, the scammer ran the socalled “Ponzi scheme,” using investments from new customers to fake returns for old customers.

In 2021, Pleterski said, “Greed took over and I took very aggressive positions, trying to get returns that were obviously not profitable or not necessarily possible at the time, and that’s just causing more losses.” (With information not found by page)
