Disney is a Golden Retriever puppy who was rejected by several people due to a physical condition: she was born without a right front paw. But that wasn’t until she found her guardian, Genevieve Smith, who loves her just the way she is!
The pet lives in Madison, Wisconsin, in the United States and faces prejudice from people every day when they see it walking on the street on just three legs. Yes, unfortunately this prejudice exists!
“Disney was born with an umbilical cord wrapped around her right front leg, which prevented her from fully developing in the womb,” the pet’s owner explained in an Instagram post.
Recognizing the challenge, Genevieve promised to never treat her as if she had a disability, to take her on adventures and to challenge her in different activities, just as she would if she had a fourlegged dog.
“To some, a birth defect like this may seem sad, but I can promise that Disney is the HAPPIEST girl. She approaches everything headon, is very motivated, enthusiastic and full of personality. The fact that she’s threefooted doesn’t slow her down one bit.”
The young woman also committed to learning and knowing the boundaries of Disney without forcing her to do anything she didn’t want to do.
Among so many promises, the most important is to love and support her in every adventure she faces and to fight for her when people doubt her abilities.
“Disney isn’t ‘perfect,’ but that doesn’t mean she’s not a happy, healthy pup or that she doesn’t deserve a fun, adventurous life.”

Genevieve created a compilation of videos showing how happy the pet is with and without prosthetics and shared them on Disney’s Instagram on July 19. The post garnered more than 9 million views and thousands of comments.
