Agnetha Faltskog, 73, teases ABBA’s reunion ahead of the legendary band’s 50th anniversary – after releasing her first solo single in 10 years

Agnetha Faltskog has hinted at a possible ABBA reunion ahead of the 50th anniversary of the pop supergroup’s Eurovision victory.

The 73-year-old singer, who was in the band alongside Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, seemed to hint that something was in the works in time for the concert to return to their home country of Sweden.

She told The Sun: “You never know about ABBA and when we…”

Before I quickly add, “Well, I’m not going to say anything about that.” I’d rather be quiet.

After entering the 1973 competition, the group was catapulted to superstardom, releasing eight studio albums before splitting up ten years later.

This comes after fans were emotional on Thursday after hearing Agnetha’s “gorgeous” new solo song on the radio for the first time.

Joining Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, the singer relaunched her solo career at the age of 73 with Where Do We Go From Here – her first in ten years.

After the song’s first listen, fans flocked to social media to praise Agnetha, saying they had “tears in their eyes.”

One person shared: “Agnetha is a perfect angel with a beautiful voice and I love her.”

Another added: “I absolutely loved the new Agnetha song!” And what a delightful interview. Tears in my eyes at 3:45am! Thank you Agnetha and Zoe Ball!’

A third wrote: “It’s nice to hear new music from Agnetha Faltskog!” “It would be amazing if after A+ it led to a proper, brand new album.”

Someone else wrote: “There is literally no woman more elegant, graceful, lovely or beautiful than Agnetha Faltskog. ‘Out of the league.’

Another fan shared: “I just love the song.” “I felt really emotional listening to Agnetha.”

“A while later I heard the first reworked song and I have to say I absolutely loved it! It sounded so fresh and modern, even better than I imagined!”

She continued: “We gave the album an A+ rating and to top it off we even recorded a brand new song!” And that will be the first thing you’ll hear from me.

In a letter to her fans before its release, Agnetha wrote: “A few years ago I heard one of the songs from my last album ‘A’ on the radio.” I have many fond memories of the making of this album, so I couldn’t help but smile hold back, because time flies…

“Suddenly I realized: What would the album sound like if we had made it today…?” I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

“I approached the guys who produced ‘A’ in 2013: ‘What would you think about reinterpreting ‘A’ and doing a completely new version of it?’ They loved the idea! “Let us try it!”

According to reports last week, Agnetha landed a huge record deal with BMG, which has pop superstar Kylie Minogue on its books.

Their rumored signing to BMG comes two years after the band reunited to release comeback album Voyage.

A source told The Sun: “Agnetha loved being back in the studio with ABBA and it inspired her to restart her solo career.”

“She’s been in regular contact with the BMG team in London for months and they’ve helped develop her new sound.”

“After a long time working on new music, there’s finally a work she loves that’s ready for release.”

She first achieved success in Sweden with the release of her self-titled debut album in 1968.

In May 2013, Agnetha released a new album called A, produced by Jörgen Elofsson and Peter Nordahl, which was her last.

Voyage was the ninth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA and was released in November 2021.

Featuring ten songs written by Benny and Björn, it was the group’s first album of new material in forty years.

It was also the first album without longtime bassist Rutger Gunnarsson and drummer Ola Brunkert.
