HAVANA, March 20 (ACN) With a new focus, innovation and export promotion, the XXIV edition of the International Agro-Industrial Food Fair (FIAGROP 2023) begins today at its traditional headquarters in Rancho Boyeros.
All this without losing its essence and tradition, namely the exhibition of the best cattle specimens, the competition and the auction of animals, together with the rodeo, a show that the ranchers live and whose exponents, the cowboys, prepare daily chores.
Orlando Díaz Rodríguez, director of international relations at the Ministry of Agriculture, told the Cuban News Agency that the export of products and services, foreign investment and the application of science and technology in production have become tools for managing an agriculture that is short of resources and technologies are lacking.
He explained that the tightening of the United States’ economic, trade and financial embargo on Cuba is having an impact on production results, as every day it becomes more difficult to obtain the inputs and fuels that the sector demands.
Based on this tenet, we are working to encourage national exhibitors to be those who have the potential to export and invest in projects that are attractive to international buyers and investors, as well as to encourage their overseas partners to participate in business forums, he explained.
Before the inauguration, the business groups, companies, cooperatives and representatives of the new forms of management carried out the construction of the exhibitions, while the employees of the agricultural fair devoted themselves to the conditioning of the stables, cleaning and beautification of the enclosure, creating conditions in each area.
Registrations have also been made for business forums, where the progress of transactions made is evaluated and new trades are encouraged, he added.
