Montreal Canadiens prospect Logan Mailloux took advantage of the American Hockey League (AHL) All-Star Game to showcase his talent with the puck on Monday night.
The Laval Rocket's sole representative at this event at Tech CU Arena was part of the North Section team. In three games with two short periods and three against three, Mailloux hit the mark in the duel against the central department.
The 20-year-old defender was behind the opposing net with the puck. He got around it and beat the goalkeeper to even the score. The game was ultimately decided on penalties and Mailloux's club won.
CH's first-round pick (31st overall) in the 2021 draft also hit the target in his team's first game by shooting the puck between his legs. However, his goal did not count as there was no time left on the clock.
This story repeated itself in his team's third game.
The North Division team did not advance to the round-robin stage, recording one shootout win, one loss and one draw.
Mailloux will play his first professional season in 2023-2024. He has 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 43 games with the Rocket so far. The Habs' farm club will return to action on Friday, visiting the Marlies in Toronto. This will be the first of a five-game series at opposing rinks.
