ALBA TCP expressed its deep and total opposition to acts of violence in Brazil

The integration bloc pointed out in a statement that these actions go against the institutionality of the Federative Republic, as neo-fascist groups have infiltrated the Congress trying to ignore the legitimate government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The alliance expressed its solidarity with the Brazilian people and the Brazilian executive and called for “vigilance against attempts to break the fundamental principles of democracy such as respect for the law, institutions and election results”.

In a tweet by ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Félix Plasencia, he expressed the secretariat’s support against acts of violence by groups “neo-fascists who intend to stage a coup against Brazil’s democracy and ignore the will of its people”.

The Venezuelan government also declared its solidarity with the Brazilian people, their President and the democratic institutions in the face of attempts by violent forces to undermine the constitutional order and to call for military intervention.

We view with astonishment and concern the actions of fascist and far-right groups who, with the support of their leaders inside and outside the country, seek to ignore the results of last October’s democratic elections, it said in a statement.

He pointed out that these aim to threaten the social and political peace of the fraternal Brazilian people, their government and the region as a whole.

The Bolivarian Republic trusts in the democratic beliefs of the Brazilian people, who just a week ago took to the streets to demonstrate their support for democracy and President Lula, he said.

The Venezuelan government condemned all acts of political violence and reiterated its support for the Brazilian people and their Union and Reconstruction government led by President Lula.

In his Twitter account, President Nicolás Maduro categorically denied the violence perpetrated by Brazilian neo-fascist groups allied to former President Jair Bolsonaro, who have attacked that country’s democratic institutions.

“Our support for @LulaOficial and the Brazilian people who will surely mobilize in defense of peace and its President,” the President said.

This Sunday, supporters of the far-right ex-president broke into the headquarters of the National Congress, the Supreme Court and the Planalto Palace (headquarters of the executive branch) in Brasilia.
