Alexandre Champagne returns to the stage

After years of working on it Three times a day and as a photographer, Alexandre Champagne returns to his first love: humor. In the spring, the one that was already a hit on the Internet Guys contract will begin a run-in tour in small venues, it has been learned The newspaper. “I’m very clear about that,” he said.

Alexandre Champagne wants to start this new comedy tour humbly. Currently, only 11 dates have been announced between March and November in intimate venues such as Théâtre Petit Champlain in Quebec (May 17, 2024) and Cabaret BMO in Sainte-Thérèse (July 12-13, 2024). .

“Firstly, it is difficult to sell tickets. And it’s not because I’ve made five or six jokes on Facebook in the last year that people pay money to see me in a concert hall, he says. I’m not stupid. But I will work hard to make it work.”

Decency

The bite for humor

Alexandre Champagne left the comedy industry in 2011. At the time, the 2007 National School of Humor graduate felt he didn’t have “what it took” to go solo. The following year he met Marilou and the “Three Times a Day” adventure kept him very busy for the next few years.

Twelve years later, after seeing his career turn towards photography, he decided to return to humor. First last May for a show organized by the CIEL (Center for Emotional Intelligence Online) foundation he founded in 2019. “I did an eight-minute number and had a lot of fun.”

An invitation from ComediHa! Attending Fest-Québec this summer would definitely convince him to get back on stage. “I did an hour-long show with guests,” he says. It went really well. I fell in love with humor again.”

Diabetes and the French language

In the 80-minute show that he will give on stage in the spring, Alexandre Champagne will talk about his diabetes. “I was diagnosed in 2014. I realize that this is a condition that is very taboo for some people or very unknown to others. I think we can laugh about the situation. There is so much nonsense in the healthcare system.”

Another of his numbers deals with the French language. “It’s hard to joke about it, but at the same time there are so many aberrations and things to say. I want to express my opinions on these issues in a gentle way, but at the same time keep it funny and unifying.”

Even though the ultimate goal is to launch an official one-man show, Alexandre Champagne doesn’t see himself being able to put on 100 shows a year. “It’s not something that keeps me creatively busy. I like to organize spontaneous events so that they are special.”

Alexandre Champagne will begin his training tour on March 15th in Chambly. For all details: linktr.ee/alexandre_champagne
