BY Alejandro Feregrino-. “We will have to talk about certain things so that we can move forward a little more.” With these words, Alicia Machado assured that she would soon speak out about the abuse and violence she suffered in Mexico at the hands of “a powerful person,” and hopes other women will do the same.

In an interview with CANAL 6 of Multimedios, the former Miss Universe assured that Mexico must change and that for this women must raise their voices and denounce.

“Silence is the same as dying, and there are things that need to change in Mexico, and they will change, maybe very slowly, but they will change through certain grievances.”

Without revealing her name, the Venezuelan actress, who has appeared in Mexican soap operas such as “Until Money Divides Us” and “A Happy Family”, assured that she is “a well-known person who is very shady with herself”.

Of course, she quickly said that the person responsible was not the Mexican businessman Rafael Hernández Linares, the father of her daughter, with whom she has an excellent relationship. “It’s a very nice story for us.”

“A very dark story”

In the interview, Machado recalled the humiliation she suffered at the hands of former US President Donald Trump when she was Miss Universe and the tycoon was the owner of the said franchise.

During her time in power, the Venezuelan gained weight and was the subject of severe criticism, some of which came from Trump.

“For me it is a very sensitive subject to talk about, and it still is, and it has been difficult. It was difficult then and it happened, for me my career as an actress healed my soul, it healed everything, I convinced the public in a different way and that “It happened to me. Even the eating disorders, the years I was sick, happened too.”

Machado currently lives in the United States and has a successful career in television. She has spoken several times about the unpleasant situations she experienced as Miss Universe 1996, but now she wants to put them behind her.

“It’s a story that I don’t want to dust off (…) I won’t press charges, I’ve already said it a thousand times and I’ve made it known through the media to people who are interested in me.” File a report, that will not happen. I just want to continue to live peacefully and happily in this country. I wish this man all the best, I have already forgiven him.”

Of course, she is ready to speak out in Mexico and do her part to help the country address harassment and violence. “Certain people are going to have to talk about certain things so we can move forward a little bit further, and I’m willing to take the risk,” she explained.
