Oscar nomination for the soundtrack by John Williams

The film, which was released in 2003, tells the story of Frank Abagnale Jr., a young con man in the 1960s who became a master at the art of cons. Very quickly he succeeds in embezzling several million dollars and being prosecuted by the FBI. A true chameleon, he manages to change his identity to escape from law enforcement. He has notably taken on unlikely jobs as a pilot, doctor, university professor or assistant district attorney. And during his escape, he’s being hunted by Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent who has dedicated his life to tracking the fugitive.

Inspired by the real life of Frank Abagnale Jr., this feature film was nominated for an Oscar, specifically in the Best Original Score category. The soundtrack was composed by John Williams, conductor known for the music of the saga “Star Wars”, “Jaws”, “Indiana Jones” and “Jurassic Park”.

“A pleasure”

Critically, the film was well received by the press. “A fresh and sparkling film like champagne,” estimated “Le Parisien”. “A scintillating police comedy in which Leonardo DiCaprio superbly portrays a forger with great charm. A pleasure,” said “Les Echos”. “Spielberg made one of his most personal films. And this unpretentious comedy reveals his deepest dreams about childhood and its magic,” wrote Télérama.

“Catch Me If You Can” grossed $352.11 million internationally at the box office when it opened, on a budget of 52 million greenbacks. In France, Steven Spielberg’s feature film was welcomed by 3.64 million cinema-goers.

So if you want to see “Catch Me If You Can” again on Amazon Prime Video, you have to hurry, because the platform is withdrawing the film. Sunday January 15th.
