The attacker threw himself at the 32-year-old man, poet, environmental activist and ardent supporter of “shooting rooms” on Monday morning.

Ryan Carson, a 32-year-old left-wing activist and American poet known for his defense of “shooting rooms,” was stabbed to death this Monday at 4 a.m. in New York. He was returning from a wedding on Lafayette Avenue with his girlfriend at the B38 bus stop when a person walked past them, then turned around and shouted, “What are you looking at?” … isn’t it?” Carson stands between the attacker and his girlfriend, but the attacker (whose photo was published by the New York police on X) becomes angry and approaches the couple. Ryan Carson tries to escape his grasp, but stumbles against the bench he was sitting on while waiting for the bus and falls. The attacker brutally pounces on him and stabs him several times. He walks away for a few moments before walking up to Ryan Carson’s frightened girlfriend, spitting on her, and then kicking Carson, who is on the ground and running away.

Surveillance video of the attack was posted on social media and viewed millions of times. Emergency responders who quickly arrived on scene noticed that a knife had pierced Ryan Carson’s heart. So far there have been no arrests. According to LinkedIn, the 32-year-old was a senior campaign director for solid waste at the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG). He also walked 500 miles “to raise awareness for the passage of legislation to establish the first overdose prevention center in the state,” one of his friends told the New-YorkPost. This initiative to benefit “Shooting Rooms” in 2021 allowed him to raise more than $20,000, according to the website GoFundMe, where he launched an online fundraiser.

“His murder is unimaginable and the NYPD will not rest until we bring him to justice. “I pray for everyone who knew and loved Ryan,” responded New York Mayor Eric Adams. “Ryan was a beloved employee, colleague and friend, as well as a creative, talented, tireless and optimistic advocate for students and the environment,” NYPIRG added in a statement.
