American authorities managed to rescue a mountaineer who ventured into the Rocky Mountains of Colorado wearing only a hoodie.
Footprints in the snow led authorities to the man, who was found “alive but in an advanced hypothermic condition,” CNN reports.
It was at an altitude of almost 4,000 meters late Wednesday afternoon.
“When the weather began to change in the evening, the climber was ill-prepared, without water or food and wearing only a hoodie with no way to warm up,” the research team says. in the mountains of Chaffee County, in a news release.
“As darkness fell and hypothermia began to be felt, the individual decided to embark on an avalanche descent in the hope that it would lead him to a road,” we continue.
An avalanche slide is a section of a mountain created by frequent avalanches.
At around 12:30 on Thursday morning, authorities finally found the tracks that allowed them to find the climber, although they were difficult to see due to the nearly two meters of snowfall.
The man was transported to the hospital in an ambulance around 7 a.m.
We are not afraid for our lives.
