In a close game, the Detroit Red Wings recorded an important 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Little Caesar Arena on Sunday.
This win allows the Michigan team to reclaim third place in the Atlantic Division and now has a record of 24-17-5. The Bolts occupied that position before the game, but are now the first team to be drafted in the Eastern Association.

In the middle of the second period it was Daniel Sprong who scored the winning goal. The former Pittsburgh Penguins grabbed the puck in the neutral zone before escaping. He then hit Andrei Vasilevskiy with a wrist shot.
Nevertheless, Jon Cooper's troops scored the first goal in the first third. He took advantage of a nice exchange with Nikita Kucherov to deceive the alertness of Alex Lyon. Dylan Larkin equalized right at the end of the first period.
Lyon also played well and made 28 saves. Meanwhile, Vasilevskiy stopped 33 of the home favorite's 35 shots.
The Red Wings will be back in action on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars. The Lightning will look to return to victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on the same day.
