Android TV 14 lets you answer your calls on the big screen – Phonandroid

An interesting feature has been discovered in the latest Android TV 14 beta. The operating system should actually make it possible to make calls directly from the television without having to switch to the smartphone. A new way to further strengthen the connections between the two devices.

Have you ever dreamed of receiving your calls directly on your TV? Admittedly, the idea probably never crossed your mind. However, for the developers at Google, this is obviously not the case. In fact, according to the findings of journalist Mishaal Rahman, it seems that the next major update of Android TV will offer users this functionality.

When the Mountain View company isn’t busy adding custom profiles to its TV operating system, it’s actively working on Android TV 14, which is currently in beta. This will allow the curious little ones to discover the new features that Google has in store for us, including the one that allows you to make calls from your TV.

Make calls with Android TV, and why not?

“Call notifications will only appear if you are in your personal user profile on this TV. “You can adjust this parameter in other profiles to also receive calls when those profiles are active,” Mishaal Rahman explains the functionality. We imagine that notifications will appear directly on the screen and that the TV’s built-in microphone will be used, already useful for voice commands, and that therefore it will be unnecessary to take out the smartphone.

As our Android Authority colleagues note, Android TV 14 won’t be the only one to offer calling on TV, as Apple is working on a similar feature to come in tvOS 17. No doubt the future is on the way. In addition, Android TV 14 already offers many other new features such as HDR mode controls, power management features and even notable improvements on the audio side. Release planned for the next few weeks.
