The English newspapers lashed out at Sussex as King Charles prepared to face a new test of the monarchy
FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
LONDON – Angry reactions in London after the release of the trailer announcing the Netflix documentary made by Harry and Meghan: “Declaration of War”, “Sabotage”, read the comments of English newspapers, which dubbed the Dukes of Sussex as “the new Kardashians ». The The timing of the trailer’s release was seen as a deliberate attempt to derail William and Kate’s trip to America, which is currently underway: but above all as an announcement of total conflict with the royal family, with which there is no longer any to give seems to be every possibility of reconciliation.
In the minute-long clip, which features dozens of private photos of Harry and Meghan, the prince’s voice can be heard announcing, over dark and menacing music, “No one sees what happens behind closed doors,” as he appears in a photo of his crying Woman: and right after that the video cuts to a photo taken during the Commonwealth Fair in Westminster in 2019 where we see a very evil eyed Kate with an angelic looking Meghan sitting behind. As the British newspapers commented, they managed to find the only bad photo of Kate on earth: and they shot it there to portray her as the evil stepsister.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Meghan says, “When the stakes are so high, is there no point in hearing our story from us?”: a phrase that was read as a direct threat of more revelations against the British royals. And according to British newspapers, the reactions at the palazzo were “horror” and “anger”.
Then Harry says, “I had to do everything I could to protect my family,” accompanied by a sequence showing newspapers and photographers – a hint that the prince is likely to return to the fray with his attacks on the media becomes.
The footage anticipates the documentary set to air next week: it features public and private images of Harry and Meghan, from birth to now, accompanied by a melancholic soundtrack. But they’re often professional black-and-white photographs, which has newspapers wondering why Harry and Meghan had photographers in tow from the start, even at home: did they plan everything from the moment they arrived?
According to Netflix, the show “explores the challenges that led to them feeling compelled to retire from their full-time roles in institutions”: It includes comments from friends and family members, many of whom had never spoken publicly before historians, who did so Discuss the relationship of the Commonwealth and the Royal Family to the press. “The series not only explores a couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we interact with one another,” Netflix said.
But there is much more, according to the English newspapers. “Weaponized narcissism – and treason on a biblical level,” headlines the Chron, which has never been fond of the Dukes of Sussex. “Disgusting and scary,” writes well-known TV commentator Piers Morgan, who has always been Meghan’s nemesis, in the Sun. “In pure Sussex style – notes columnist Sarah Vine – they have portrayed themselves as victims while acting as total aggressors”: and with the Queen’s death, nothing seems to stand in the way of “their apparent mission to destroy the royal family and especially William and Katie.”
The ultimate rift between the two brothers appears to be the most devastating consequence of the schism between Harry and Meghan: it poses a significant problem for King Charles, who is forced to choose between his two sons. A new test for the monarchy.
