1953 – Tom Petty is born
American musician and multi-instrumentalist Tom Petty was born in the city of Gainesville (Florida, USA).who recorded more than 20 albums and sold 80 million copies.
1958 – Viggo Mortensen is born
The American actor Viggo Mortensen was born in the New York borough of Manhattan. who has directed more than 50 films, including the three in the Lord of the Rings saga. Mortensen, of Danish descent, became a fan of San Lorenzo when he spent part of his childhood in Buenos Aires.
1976 – Diego A. Maradona debuts
At the age of 15 years, 11 months and 20 days, Diego Maradona made his debut in the first division of the Argentinos Juniors. It was the 1-0 defeat against Talleres de Córdoba on the eighth matchday of the national tournament. At the start of the second half, Maradona entered the pitch and replaced Rubén Giacobetti.
1979 – La Masia
The Spanish football club Barcelona opens the La Masía youth training center. One of the most prestigious in the world, from which great figures of international football emerged such as Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta.
1996 – Enzo Francescoli
The Uruguayan striker Enzo Francescoli scores the 100th goal of his career in Argentine football wearing a River Plate jersey. It was the “Millionaire’s” 5-2 win against Rosario Central at the “Gigante de Arroyito” stadium. Over the course of his career, “El Príncipe” scored 160 goals with the River jersey.
2010 – Death of Mariano Ferreyra
Young Mariano Ferreyra, a member of the Partido Obrero, dies from a gunshot wound to the chest, shot by a group of railway union members during a march of contract workers demanding transfer to a permanent plant of the General Roca Railway. Former railway union secretary José Pedraza was sentenced to 15 years in prison for incitement to commit a crime, the perpetrators of which received 18 years in prison.
2017 – Death of Federico Luppi
Actor Federico Luppi dies in Buenos Aires at the age of 81. one of the most famous artists in Argentina and Spain. He won numerous awards, including six Silver Condors and a Silver Shell at the San Sebastián Festival.
2023 – Pediatrician Day
It is celebrated on National Pediatrician Day to commemorate the founding date of the Argentine Society of Pediatrics in 1911.
2023 – Chef Day
International Chef’s Day is celebrated, Instituteor since 2004 by the World Culinary Association to honor chefs for their commitment and work in the restaurant industry.
