The announcement was expected given the new regulations for manufacturers in Europe: this Tuesday Apple finally announced new AirPods Pro.

In fact, these are identical models to the second generation AirPods Pro in every respect, at least when it comes to the headphones themselves. The novelty can be found primarily on the side of the charging case, which now switches to USB-C connectivity instead of the Lightning socket.

It must be said that, just like the iPhone, Apple is forced by the European Union to subject a large part of these products to this connectivity standard. Starting January 1, USB-C will be the primary wired charging system for all smartphones, tablets, headphones, digital cameras, headsets, portable gaming consoles and portable speakers. From then on, Apple had to adapt to this paradigm shift in order to continue selling its AirPods Pro 2 on the European market.

However, the manufacturer took advantage of this new case to announce that thanks to the USB-C offered on both its iPhone 15 and the new AirPods Pro 2 case, it will be possible to charge the case using the iPhone’s battery by connecting them with a USB-C to USB-C cable.

In addition to this new AirPods case, Apple has also announced a new wired version of its EarPods. Unlike the model previously offered by the manufacturer, which benefited from a Lightning socket, the new EarPods now have a logical USB-C socket.

Aside from this connectivity change, no changes have been announced for the AirPods Pro and USB-C EarPods.
