Records that went viral on the networks show the former US President reacting violently to the alleged arrest

Fake images of former US President Donald Trump’s arrest in New York have gone viral on social media. The photographs were created via the Midjourney platform, an artificial intelligence that generates art from a text description.

The photos went viral after programmer Eliot Higgins shared the footage on his profile chirp. According to the Associated Press news agency, he used the midjourney program and asked for scenes in which Trump reacted violently to the alleged arrest.

“The Trump arrest pic was really just a passing reflection of how well and badly Midjourney can portray real scenes, since the first pic shows Trump with three legs and a police belt,” Higgins said in an interview with the AP.

On March 18, Trump claimed that allegedly leaked documents from a “D.A.’s Office” in Manhattan, New York, pointed to an operation to arrest him. He did not provide any evidence or details of the charges that could lead to his arrest.

The Republican is under investigation for keeping confidential documents related to his tenure as President of the United States and for alleged tax fraud involving the Trump organizations.

The threat of arrest prompted authorities in the US cities of New York, Washington (DC) and Los Angeles on Tuesday (March 21) to step up their police presence. Police officers in New York were also deployed to monitor the area surrounding Trump Tower in the city. Local supporters and opponents of the Republican are protesting.

Trump announced in November 2022 that he would run for the presidency in 2024. In order to officially assert himself, he must win the Republican Party primaries. Former South Carolina Governor and former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley also announced her intention to run for the party’s nomination.
