It also aired on Cartoon Network and gained worldwide notoriety. It was the first animated comedy series to air in prime time on American television.
The Flintstones was conceived after HannaBarbera produced The Huckleberry Hound Show and The Quick Draw McGraw Show. Barbera and Hanna wanted to attract the attention of adults with a lighthearted comedy.
Although the series was originally aimed at an adult audience, it also caught the attention of children. Beginning with season three, the producers focused on presenting a more elaborate story that could be seen by younger children as well.
While there’s already a liveaction film about the classic Stone Age family, artist Hidreley Diao has used his photo editing skills to reinvent what some of the classic characters from The Flintstones would look like if they were human.
The result was really cool and captured the best names like Fred Flintstone, Wilma Flintstone, Betty Rubble and Barney Rubble.
