His last fight dates back to January 28, 2023, a victory by knockout. technically against Anthony Yarde in England.
Smith's promoter Eddie Hearn tried to stir things up in the lead-up to the clash by bringing up a negative but noticeable test from Beterbiev. However, the latter remains frozen, according to his trainer Marc Ramsay.
“Artur is very focused on the task. He understands the other team's game at the moment. We cannot help but continue to test negative. I have already done similar things to destabilize the opponent,” Ramsay said in the press scrum.
Eddie Hearn also claims that Beterbiev has never faced a bigger puncher than Smith.
“He's not the biggest puncher Artur has ever faced, but he's very complete. He does have a good left hook, but we’ve seen others too…” Ramsay replied.
“He's not the best batsman he's ever faced, but he's very complete. He’s a good left hook, but we’ve seen others too.”
