According to WSB-TV, the Fortson Public Library was locked down for several hours after a woman walked in around 11 a.m. and said she feared for her life. The shooting didn’t take place in the library.

A woman who was locked in the library at the time told WSB-TV that the woman ran to the back of the building while staff called the police.

“Her cell phone was taken from her and she said she was scared for her life.” “She ran to the back of the building and I assume that’s where someone from the library called 911,” the woman told WSB-TV.

Police arrived and questioned the woman before announcing a lockdown.

“I noticed the police outside the building and asked them if we were okay and if we needed to do anything,” the women told the reporter.

“He let us know there was a woman who was fearing for her life … and had no way of calling the police and they came in and interviewed her and let us know we would be on lockdown for a while.” ,’ she added.

The woman said she felt safe in the library, and at around 1:15 p.m., staff told her to pack up and leave.

Heavily armed police officers and ambulances then surrounded the area.

This is an evolving story.
