Be warned, your phones and TVs will beep loudly at 1:55 p.m.
The Ministry of Public Security is conducting a new test of Québec En Alerte to ensure the system is working properly.
Québec En Alerte’s goal is to quickly inform Quebecers to better help them protect themselves when an event occurs that poses a “real or imminent threat to the life or safety” of the population.
This warning is related to risks related to an “explosion or contamination by hazardous substances, natural and climate disasters such as tornadoes and wildfires, or even armed threats,” we inform.
Whether on your phone, tablet or TV, the message broadcast in French and English by the Ministry of Public Security highlights the behaviors you must take to reduce the likely consequences of the event.
Additionally, the test allows people to check the compatibility of their mobile device before a real emergency situation occurs.
Québec En Alerte also allows AMBER alerts to be broadcast, aimed at finding a child at risk as quickly as possible.
To receive the notification, your mobile phone must be compatible and connected to an LTE network at the time of the notification.
