Davide Carnielli, the trentino climber who has been hospitalized in Treviso since the accident on the Marmolada glacier that killed 11 people on July 3, has woken up from a coma.
This is what her sister Valeria wrote on Facebook. “Davide is in a period of awakening. A long road to recovery awaits him, accompanied by the love of his family,” the woman said.
She thanked the first responders, the President of the Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, and the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia. However, the patient must undergo further therapies before they can leave the hospital.
The 30-year-old climber was initially reported missing after the accident and was found by his family at the hospital in Treviso, where he was taken in serious condition and unidentified. Six men and three women from Italy and two Czech climbers died in the accident.
