Bake Off Italia is the talent show based on the competition between amateur pastry chefs and in which Federico De Flaviis also took part in 2018
Bake Off Italia – Desserts in the oven is presented by Benedetta Parodi. The judge of the pastry creations was Ernst Knam in all editions, together with Clelia d’Onofrio who took part in the program up to the ninth edition. The fourth edition saw the addition of a third judge, Antonio Lamberto Martino, who was replaced by in the following season Damiano Carrara.
There have been eleven editions of Bake Off Italia so far, each of which has been distinguished by many Pastry tests in each episode, which the jury evaluates in terms of appearance and taste.
They are proof of creativity technical exam (which involves the preparation of a dessert based on Ernst Knam’s recipe), that Experience surprise – in which participants have to recreate a dessert according to the judges’ instructions regarding shape, taste and composition – and the outdoor test, which takes place outside the Bake Off tent in various Italian cities.
There are many of them Hobby confectioners who have ventured into all these editions, each with its own style and story. But there is someone who is still undefeated.
The best amateur pastry chef in Italy of the sixth edition
We are talking about Winner of the sixth edition from Bake Off Italia, broadcast in 2018: the Como region Federico De Flaviis In the final, he defeated his opponents Irene Tolomei (second place) and Iolanda Casillo (third place), after defeating all fourteen participants in the race, and became the “Best amateur pastry chef in Italy“.
The three tests that declared him the winner were the creative test, the technical test – in which participants had to prepare a tarte tatin – and the wow test.
Federico’s record
At the time of the event he attended, Federico De Flaviis was attending the third year of the Carlo Porta Professional Institute for Food and Wine and Hotel Hospitality Services in Milan. He decides to take part in the selection and leaves his parents in the dark about everything. But Federico De Flaviis nurtured his passion for pastry from a young age, initially with his mother and aunt. Thanks to him, he feels very comfortable in the pastry shop precise and meticulous character.
During the recording of the show, Federico only had 16 years and it was the youngest participant of the edition. Winning the Bake Off Italia will do the same the youngest winner of any edition of the program worldwideand thus set a still unbeaten record.
