Ben reunited with Cole to star in Richard Linklater’s 1976 teen stoner comedy Dazed and Confused, as paddle-wielding high school grads beat up an incoming freshman.

Then Damon, Affleck and Hauser all played fierce South Boston friends in Gus Van Sant’s brilliant 1997 janitor drama Good Will Hunting.

“I was always amazed that Cole wasn’t a huge movie star,” marveled Matt.

“When we worked with him he was 16, I’ll never forget that. [Ben and I] We drove back to Boston… left the set for the first week, drove to Cambridge and we said… “Let me and you out, who’s the best damn actor around here?” And we were both like “Hauser” at the same time. He was raw talent; just amazing…and just the sweetest soul.’
