Mink: I’m going to lump those two questions together because I think Kyle Hamilton’s safety would be my biggest shocker that could possibly happen. Hamilton seems a bit polarizing considering the range he showed on tape didn’t match the speed he showed in practice. The Notre Dame star is a powerful safety who has been dynamic as both an in-the-box tackler and a back-end pass defender. He could be an elite matchup weapon in a system that takes advantage of his versatility.
The Ravens have no immediate need for security with new free agents Marcus Williams and Chuck Clark as starters. But for a team that values a strong second place so much, a player as attractive as Hamilton shouldn’t be ruled out. Mike Macdonald could certainly find ways to use it.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer lets Hamilton go 12th with the Vikings and The Athletic’s Dane Brugler lets him go 11th with the Commanders. That’s not far from No. 14, where the Ravens would have a very interesting conversation if Hamilton were surprisingly available.
The other potential shocker would be if the Ravens drafted a wide receiver at 14. There are obviously much bigger needs, but Drake London, Jameson Williams, Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave are all expected to leave midway through the first round. Also, wide receiver stats seem to be skyrocketing in the league. With players gone to more-needed positions and a wideout being their highest-ranking player by a wide margin, the Ravens could perhaps pick a first-round receiver for the third time in four years.
