Australian police are searching for the body of a surfer attacked and seen “in the mouth of a shark” this Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Disappearances on the beach. This Tuesday, October 31st, in the state of South Australia, a 55-year-old man was the victim of a shark attack at a well-known surfing spot near Granites Beach. This Wednesday the police search for his remains will continue, reports AFP, citing RMC.
“Blood everywhere
Ian Brophy, a witness, claims to have seen the sea predator with “its body in its mouth.” He initially warned of the presence of a shark by screaming, but that wasn’t enough.
“When I turned around, I saw the shark pounce on the victim and bite,” he told a local newspaper. The latter then confirmed that he had seen the animal “walk over (the victim), bite him and drag him under the water, then nothing for a minute or two, blood everywhere and finally the board appeared”.
A local resident also told an Australian broadcaster that after riding his jet ski to emergency services, he briefly saw a great white shark “the length of a limousine.” Although this local resident claims to have seen the animal in the area of the attack, there is no evidence that it is actually the shark in question.
Police said in a statement that “the man’s body has not yet been found and the search resumed this morning.”
