La Paz, 3rd January (RHC) – The police command of the city of Santa Cruz was again attacked Monday night by violent groups from the so-called Cruceñista Youth Union (UJC) linked to the department’s governor Fernando Camacho.

Telesur correspondent in Bolivia, Freddy Rosales, said that during the attack on the police headquarters, the attackers attacked a group of people attending a vigil in support of Governor Camacho.

According to police, a group armed with Molotov cocktails, firecrackers and firecrackers attacked the police headquarters around 9 p.m.

Police Department Deputy Commander Colonel Edson Claure pointed out that police officers responded to the attack with tear gas to disperse the violent and prevent the seizure and burning of police headquarters.

The police officer commented that videos were taken to demonstrate the violence and identify some of those responsible for the attack on police headquarters.

Violent protests in the city of Santa Cruz have intensified following the arrest of Santa Cruz Governor Luis Fernando Camacho, leaving multiple demolitions and arson of public facilities at national and regional levels.

Governor Camacho is accused of terrorism, which is why a judge ordered his four-month preventive detention in the high-security prison Chonchocoro in La Paz department.

Luis Fernando Camacho was arrested by the country’s police on December 28, 2022 as part of the case dubbed Coup I.

During the investigation into the Coup I case, other people have been charged with their involvement in the event, including former de facto President Jeanine Áñez; Carlos Mesa, Jorge Quiroga, José Luis Camacho Parada (governor’s father), among other alleged implication.

During the 2019 coup, more than 30 people were killed while hundreds were injured. (Source/Telesur)
