Dozens of people are killed and injured in bomb attacks against Gaza
Dozens of people were killed or injured early Saturday (December 16, 2023) as a result of the ongoing Israeli bombardment of most of the Gaza Strip. In Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, at least 14 people were killed and dozens were injured in a bomb attack on a house, while “a large number” of people were trapped under the rubble, the official Palestinian agency Wafa reported.
“A young man also died in the Tal al-Zaatar area, north of Gaza, after an Israeli sniper shot him in his home,” the agency said. The siege of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia continues for the eighth consecutive day and has resulted in severe shortages of water and food. “The occupation forces ordered all medical personnel, the wounded and those present to leave their yards and gather there in cold weather, while twelve babies are kept in incubators without water, food or medical care,” denounced Wafa. “The armed forces also destroyed the southern part of the hospital and continue to attack anyone moving inside,” they add.
Israel, meanwhile, assured that its attacks were focused on a building in Jabalia after its troops were attacked and numerous Hamas fighters were identified on the roof (EFE, Portal/dz)

Iran executes prisoner convicted of spying for Israel's Mossad
Iran executed this Saturday (December 16, 2023) a man convicted of spying for foreign intelligence services, including Israel's Mossad, amid a wave of hangings and executions. “This morning the death sentence was carried out against a person who was tried and convicted of working for foreign services, including the Mossad, in Sistan Balochistan,” Mizan, a judicial news agency, reported.
The name of the person executed was not given, nor was it given when he was arrested or brought to trial. According to the Iranian judiciary, the hanged man was collecting information for the Israeli secret services with the “aim of disrupting public order,” which is why he was sentenced before a revolutionary court in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan Balochistan province in the south of the country. The Supreme Court rejected the prisoner's appeal, who later asked for a pardon, which was also rejected by the Iranian authorities.
Iran and Israel are bitter enemies and are waging a covert war of cyberattacks and attacks. Further information here (EFE, AP, AFP/dz)
