British Open: Follow Brian Harman, Cameron Young, Jon Rahm and more at Royal Liverpool on Sunday – Yahoo Sports

Brian Harman will lose the British Open on Sunday.

Harman scored 2 under 69 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England on Saturday, enough to maintain his massive five-shot lead in the last major championship of the year. He fended off a historic effort from Jon Rahm, who set a course record at 63 the previous Saturday, and recovered from two early bogeys to maintain his large lead over the rest of the field.

Harman, 36, with just two PGA Tour wins to his credit, is finally close to winning a major championship.

“It would be foolish not to imagine that [a win]and I’ve thought about winning majors my whole life,” Harman said. “That’s why I work so hard and why I practice as much as I do and why I sacrifice as much as I do.”

“If this is going to bear fruit for me tomorrow, it just has to be about golf. It has to be about execution and just staying in the moment.”

Harman will tee off with Cameron Young, who parried a birdie out of the bunker on Saturday afternoon on the 18th to put himself in the final group. Rahm will tee off with Viktor Hovland 10 minutes ahead of them. Young is yet to win on the PGA Tour, although he has had four top 10 finishes so far this season – including a T6 finish in his most recent appearance at the John Deere Classic. Rahm is targeting his third major championship win and fifth overall title this season after winning the Masters earlier this year.

Harman’s victory is far from guaranteed. But if Rahm, Young or anyone else wants to overtake him and secure the Claret Jug, it will take a spectacular round and a little help from Harman to make it happen.
